Hey Don,
the Brain Police were a psychadelic outfit from San Diego. They put out an
promotional lp back in 1968, of which only a few copies survived. Prior to
this, members were in the Other Four (see FF&Shakes vol 2& 3) and before this
as a teen combo called the Mand-ells.
Man-dells had a hip teen rocker "Oh no"/Bonnie (Dandy label) the members
were all 12 or14.
Other Four had 2 great releases "Searching for my love/Why" (Musette)
and "once and for all girl" on P.L.A.Y. their final disc
on Decca is mediocre at best.
After the Musette 45 Rick Randle split the Other Four and joined other
outfits until finally forming the Brain Police with his brother David.
They were an incredible heavy psych group and their lp is very good. It is
pretty heavy at times but songs like "The Adler" is brilliant soft melodic
psych. If you're referring to the new CD that came out as an import, it also
includes all the Other Four and Man-dells material. Hope that
helps, now off to Vegas, Tony
