Re: my brain might melt today
Yeah that page of Phil Keaggys is definately an interesting read and well
known to Hendrix fanatics like myself, and I wish Experience Hendrix would
get around to a definative answer on the question ... I used to have those
Glass Harp LP's with Keaggy on guitar, who's really quite a good guitar
player and was definately the only thing good about Glass Harp as far as I
remember. He later gave up rock fairly early on to make Christian music. I
offed my Glass Harp LP's in the late 70's towards some Tages LP's or EP's
cause I really didn't dig 'em all that much ...
As for Hendrix and his eclectic tastes, that's an understatement...
there's a neat article in the first issue of Mojo Collections, on Jimi's
record collection which Cathy Etchingham had Sothebys auction off back in
1991, and is now owned by the Experience Music Project, where I imagine they
have put it on display. It's a pretty varied collection too ... in amongst
the expected Dylan, Albert King, Jimmy Reed, Cream, John Lee Hooker, Beatles,
Lightnin' Hopkins, Electric Flag, Ray Charles, Richie - Havens, Ravi Shankar,
Stones, Band, and Mayall LPs are these goodies ...

pretty eclectic, and yes he had 2 of his own " Are You experienced " and
"Smash Hits " and according to Etchingham he was " terrible " about putting
his records back in their sleeves, and if he did, they were usually in the
wrong sleeves.

Here's a page that disproves a variation on that story,
http://www.snopes2.com/music/artists/keaggy.htm . It says that he did talk
about Gibbons on the Cavett show though.
I've also seen it reported that he made similar comments about Zoot Horn
Rollo and the liner notes of the first album by Marmalade quote him as
praising "I See The Rain." If those are true, the man had pretty eclectic
taste >>
