[bomp] Dementia 13 Playlist, 8/31/2002

Appropos of nothing but the fact that I've always wanted to do this--here's
our playlist from last night's show. Dementia 13 is heard every Saturday
night from 10-11 p.m. EST, on 89.5 CIUT in the GTA, or www.ciut.fm
worldwide--usually hosted by the magic Christian, but sometimes with Rocky
and Deena at the helm.

Attention-grabbing show starter (always vocally recorded, and sometimes
thematically linked to the playlist):

C'mon and Swim--BOBBY FREEMAN--C'mon & Swim with Bobby Freeman (Ace)

Obligatory Can-Con set:

Valerie Vanillaroma--THE ORANGE ALABASTER MUSHROOM--Space & Time (Earworm)
Oh Non--LES INTERNES--Dans le Vent Vol. 1 (Disques Echo 67)
Ball & Chain--THE GREAT SCOTS--The Great Lost Great Scots Album (Sundazed)
Shaggy Baggy Joe--LES CHANTELS--Dans le Vent Vol. 1 (Disques Echo 67)
Dementia 13--THE GRUESOMES--Tyrants of Teen Trash (Og)
Summertime Blues--THE GUESS WHO--This Time Long Ago (Ranbach)
Mieux Vaut Tard Que Jamais--LES SEQUELLES--Et Tant Pis Si Cela Vous Deplait
(Grenadine)

That last tune was a Francophone cover of the Beau Brummels' "Just a
Little"--segueing nicely into the rest of the show, a selection of
scintillating sounds from swinging San Francisco & the Bay Area, from
frantic folk-rock to proto-psychedelia to garage mechanics:

Don't Talk to Strangers--THE BEAU BRUMMELS--Volume 2 (Sundazed)
Let's Get Together--WE FIVE--Make Someone Happy (A&M)
Fragile Child--THE GOLLIWOGS--Nuggets from the Golden State: The Scorpio
Records Story (Big Beat)
Bye Bye Bye--THE TIKIS--Nuggets from the Golden State: Someone to Love (Big
Beat)
I Still Love You--THE VEJTABLES--Nuggets from the Golden State: Dance With
Me (Big Beat)
Someone to Love--THE GREAT! SOCIETY--Nuggets from the Golden State: Someone
to Love (Big Beat)
Go to Her--THE JEFFERSON AIRPLANE--Early Flight (Grunt)
Supersnazz Radio Ad--THE FLAMIN' GROOVIES--California Born & Bred (Norton)
There's a Place--THE FLAMIN' GROOVIES--Groovies' Greatest Grooves (Sire)
Weatherman--THE TEARS--The '60s Choice: Collection of Scarces [sic] Garage
Records--Eva
Satisfaction Guaranteed--THE MOURNING REIGN--Sixties Archives Vol. 5

Catch-ya-later show closer:

Buttermilk Pt. 1--SLY STEWART--Autumn Singles Box (Line/Outline)

The Orange Alabaster Mushroom will be a fungus among us at the next
Kaleidoscope, Saturday September 7.
