When it's 110 degrees on an Arizona afternoon, nothing sounds better
in the black car with the window rolled down than a solid shot of the
Queers pouring out their Beach Boys/Ramones injected punk-pop.  There
may be nothing understated about the Queers, but that's a more than
fair tradeoff when Joe King can keep writing songs like "I Never got
the Girl"--which gets turned up by instinct and puts an instant smile
on the face. While not in the same league as the rough and rolling
"Grow Up" or the under appreciated "Move Back Home," "Pleasant
Screams"  has enough to-the-hilt buzzing pop songs to slot it behind
"Don't Back Down" and in front of the "Today" EP in their cannonball
run and rally through a gumball..make that a mad, mad, mad world!
