Borders' listening stations, glossy magazines and cable TV programs
can have all the White Stripes, Vines and Hives they want. (The
Strokes also leave me cold, while the Subsonics inspire me to pick up
the guitar.)  Below are my favorite 2002 releases--so far and in no
particular order. (Some were released in 2001, but I did not hear 'til
2002.)  WFMU has definitely helped in introducing me to some exciting
new music this year.

Mama Guitar-songs from "In Mama Guitar Style" (Japan)

Duvall-Standing at the Door EP
Minus 5/Young Fresh Fellows-"Let the War Against Music Begin"
(McCaughey really gets down that '70s Beach Boys quirky vibe on the
Minus 5 side)
