Once we establish that we really can't blame Eddie Vedder for the six billion 
talent-free idiots who came AFTER him, slavishly imitating his vocal delivery 
(is the end in sight yet??  Doesn't seem like it!) ... any more than we can 
blame the "Other Eddie", Van Halen, for the six billion fretwankers who came 
after HIM, then we can focus on just exactly what we CAN blame these guys 
for.

As for Pearl Jam......when their first LP came out, I absolutely loved it, I 
must admit.  I still love it.  It sounded extremely fresh at the time.  The 
songs were great too.  Well-written and hooky.

I really haven't liked anything they've done since then, though.  It just 
sounded to me like they completely ran out of ideas after that first LP.  The 
second one, frankly, sounded like lukewarm 
written-in-the-studio-in-a-big-hurry jams with no forethought and no hooks.  
Each ensuing LP has struck me in a similar fashion.  But I can still go back 
to that first one.  "Once" is a song that, coming out in 1990, just blew away 
everything that sucked about the 80s, in one swipe.

But wow, that sure is a large load of lukewarm stuff AFTER that........
