Couldn't agree more. I like some of "those bands" output, but the 
idea that they are able to direct youngsters in the direction of the 
MC 5, Robert Johnson, Sonics or whatever is something I really 
adhere.
The Hives recently put together a compilation CD that was given 
away free with some UK metal mag containin' a large number of 
bomp-list faves and in the latest issue of Mojo the White Stripes 
got to list their fave acts. Any band able to direct, at least a couple 
o', kids away from either Eminem, Queens Of The Stoneage or 
System Of A Down has my full support.
