	16 HORSEPOWER Hoarse

98 live LP by Colorado based part French 'Gothabilly' kings
mixing

acoustic instrumentation with intense narrative rock. Includes
covers of The Gun Club and Joy Division. Wish it was easier to get hold
of Glitterhouse stuff in Ireland. I could do with everything else by
them

	LYDIA LUNCH Queen Of Siam

Torch song LP by ex teenage Jesus poet of the lower east side.
Includes Robert Quine, Billy Van Planck , the trumpeter from the
Flintstones cartoons and a very groovy version of Spooky as well as her
cover of Gloomy Sunday (the song equivalent of Macbeth) and a cover of
one of Teenage Jesus's songs.

HIGH ON FIRE Surrounded By Thieves

Relentlessly crushing metal stuff from Ex Sleep guitarist Matt
Pike's trio.

	Really violent sounding. Yum

FOREVER BAD BLUES BAND Just Stomping

Lamonte Young and crew playing blues as ambient metal. One long
track goes across 2 hour-long discs. Very soothing.

FRED NEIL Tear Down The Walls/Bleecker And
Mcdougall

Original baritone voiced folkie on his first 2 LPs. I normally
start playing from track 13 the last track on Tear Down the walls cos
I'm not a big fan of that LP. Bleecker and Macdougall is dang good
drummerless folk-rock stuff. Love his version of the Water is Wide.

TRANQUILITY BASS Let The Freak Flag Fly

Chicago based Frisco type trip hop. Psychedelic.

DILLARD & CLARK The Fantastic Expedition /Through The Morning
Through The Night

Clark is of course one of the greatest lyricists ever. Here on
his late 60s folk-rock meets bluegrass LPs with Doug Dillard on banjo. I
think between this and seeing 16 Horsepower live the banjo is becoming
one of my favourite instruments.

Is there anybody else who specialises in banjo worth checking
out?

	FIREBIRD Deluxe

Bill Steer's retro power trio. Possibly a little strange to hear
the ex Carcass/Napalm Death guy play something that sounds like it came
out of 68-72.

Still nice LP, dunno if I'm convinced by the sub Stevie Winwood
vocals though.

The guitar wrangling sure is something though

	SAVAGE REPUBLIC Jamahiriya

Eastern folk tinged late 80s psychedelia. One of my favourite
LSD LPs thanks to its use of texture. They're reforming for dates in
November

TIM BUCKLEY Live At The Troubadour 1969

69 live jazz folk LP. Long improvised versions of tracks from
Lorca and Blue Afternoon. Nice

	MOTHERHEAD BUG Zambodia

Jazz folk LP by David Ouimet ex C$C/Foetus keyboards guy

Shame this was their only LP. Very dark Edgar Allen Poe type
influence throughout

Plus a post Swans sighting of Norman Westberg on My Sweet
Milstar a love song from a missile silo to its missile.

DR ALIMANTADO Best Dressed Chicken In Town

Truly headwrecking dub plus toasting LP.

NURSE WITH WOUND A Missing Sense

Steve Stapleton's Acid LP. 3 long atmospheric mainly
instrumental tracks including

Swansong SS's rumination on the bikini atoll bomb tests.

Gotta work out what else I need by these guys, and send him that
Sonic youth stuff

	HERBIE MANN Memphis Underground

Herbie on Flute, Roy Ayers on vibes Sonny Sharrock and Larry
Coryell on guitars

Plus a Memphis rhythm section cover several soul tracks plus the
Battle Hymn of the Republic. Some great grooves

This has recently been remastered and released

	CABARET VOLTAIRE The Living Legends

Rough Trade era singles. Spooky electronic funk.

Great cover of the Velvets 'Here She Comes Now '

Had to get this through from the US, when're Mute UK going to
catch up?

Or are they? I heard they just got swallowed by EMI

Are the other Cabs LPs from this period still in print?

BILL FRISSELL with DAVE HOLLAND and ELVIN JONES

Mix between relaxed Electric and acoustic jazz stuff from near
supergroup. I had hoped for Power Tools 2 or something but this is still
pretty nice. Mellow

PURPLE TRAP Decided.Already The Motionless Heart Of
Tranquillity, Tangling The Prayer Called "I"

Ambient Metal? As with the above it's not exactly what I hoped
it would be.

Kaiji Haino, Bill Laswell and Rashied Ali, Coltrane's other
drummer.

This has its moments, but I'm left wondering exactly what a
second meeting after playing out more would be like.

BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS Trenchtown Rock

Only Bob I've got. 3/4s of this is Lee Perry Produced. ½ of it
has Tosh and Bunny.

	Dashed great Trojan compi

	NEU! 75

3rd LP by the Motorik crew. Here with the original Motorik
drummer Klaus Dinger on guitar on the 2nd side alongside his brother.
Something weird going down? Or a forerunner of La Dusseldorf?

	SAVAGE REPUBLIC Customs

Last lp by the LA dronerockers, here recorded on an unexpected
stopver in Thessalonica thanks to Greek customs hence the title. Mostly
played on borrowed instruments thanks to the Customs having confiscated
their own.

Veers between noisy jams, atmospheric folk stuff and post rock
prototypes

	SAVAGE REPUBLIC Ceremonial

The instrumental version of the 2nd LP. First one with new line
up. Contains the Trudge ep, which was the blueprint for Bruce Licher's
later Scenic.

	SAVAGE REPUBLIC Tragic Figures

First LP, their most punkish. Experimental surf rock versions of
eastern influenced art noise.

JOHN COLTRANE Complete 1961 Village Vanguard Recordings Disc1

61 was a great year for Trane. In Fact so were most of the
quartet
	years.
wish the later band had more than a couple of cuts available

	FANTOMAS Director's Cut

Mental metal covers of 60s and 70s film soundtracks by Mike
Patton, Buzz Osbourne and pals.

NEW KINGDOM Paradise Don't Come Cheap

2nd LP by NYC tripped out hip-hop crew. Sebastian looks like me.
Is this my fav LP?

GRATEFUL DEAD Dicks Picks volume 1

First cd from Latvala's archive this is from Florida in December
73.

Don't have Micky Hart on it but it still sounds dashed good.

Mainly material from Wake of the flood

	JOHN CALE The Island years

2cds of the 3lps, Fear, Guts and Helen of Troy plus.

My favourite ex Velvet playing intense narrative ambient rock.

With most of Roxy Music on Fear and Chris Spedding future
Pistols producer on the other 2 lps, plus one of Phil Collins few
positive contributions to rock on Helen of Troy

	UROY Original Dj

compi of toaster's mid to late70s stuff

	I love the 75 stuff
Wonder what Else I ought get by the guy
