[bomp] Ding Dong Lounge New Year's Eve Party
All the Boston bands kicked New York butt: Downbeat 5, DMZ, Real Kids
and Lyres. New York 1 (for Purple Wizard); Boston 10,000. Actually, Purple
Wizard were great, too, I love Bill singing "She's My Stalker" and those 2
women formerly of Prissteens are great singers and guitar players. DB5
highlights - that song about the "man in the bar / who walks you to your
car" (I think?)... in my case that would be Blair (and Jahna) who kindly
ferried me to their Casa Del Rock in NJ at around 5 a.m. for a few hours of
sleep.
DMZ got the fans into a rabid frenzy of moshing, too bad that stupid
vocal mike cut out for most of the last song, "Raw Power". Real Kids and
Lyres were both totally "ON".. and Lyres ended with one of my favorite
songs, the Syn cover, "Grounded". I danced and had a great time, got
knocked down twice, once onto the (6") stage and bruised my butt, but it was
worth it.
For some reason the Ding Dong's website misled me, they were talking
about red velvet and chandeliers and I was picturing a nicer place, like
maybe a smaller version of the Village Underground.. how wrong I was, this
place was a hole in the wall! But it was a fun hole in the wall. What did
you think, Dinos?
