[bomp] Syndicate Of Sound a.o.
>
Hey Stephen-
Syndicate Of Sound were actually a great "frat" sort of band. I saw 'em live
a few times. Always had a great show. Their album was a favorite of mine when
it came out, just no other hits on it. My feeling about the Count V are
pretty much the other way. I always hated them. In 1969 we played a gig that
Kenn
Elner was putting on, and he was just a little turd. Ripped us off!!! I think
part of the reason they are so liked is that fictional piece that
Lester Bangs did for Creem (that's who and where, wasn't it?). They never
really played around San Jose much, unlike all those other local bands of the
era.
But then people like those Choc Watchband lps, and for the most part they
have nothing to do with the band that we saw live.

through a rash of inspid one-hit wonders; those groups whose only claim to
fame
were really not that good. A one hit wonder, could be the "first squeeze of
the grape", the best song the band has and that's it (ie Count IV and
Syndicate Of Sound). A great tune, but the best was not yet to come.
