[bomp] Best/Worst of 2002

Here are my favorites for 2002:

- The Exploding Hearts "Guitar Romantic" LP
Catchy as hell power pop along the lines of the Boys.  Go King Louie!

- The Fevers "(Some German Shit)" LP
Less Stiv mimmicking, more 60's pop music.

- The FM Knives "Useless and Modern" LP
Loud and catchy punk rock!

- The Paybacks "Knock Loud" LP
Guns 'n' Roses may be making a pathetic stab at a reunion, but their
original spirit lives on here.

- The Realistics "S/T" EP
Fuckin' GREAT power pop with amazing hooks.  Probably the first thing to
come outta NYC that doesn't say FDNY on it somewhere in quite some time.

- The Reigning Sound "Time Bomb High School" LP
Greg Oblivian scores again.

- The Cool Jerks "Cleaned A Lot Of Plates In Memphis" LP
Jack Oblivian scores again.

- The Subsonics "A Lot To Forget" LP
A Spanish-only release that had me scouring the Earth.

- Supercharger "Singles Party" LP
Yeah, I had most of these already, but I'm putting it in here anyways,
because we should NEVER FORGET the importance of Supercharger and everything
they stood for.  I think many of you have already lost sight of that.

- The Yum Yums "Blame it on the Boogie" LP
Not their best LP, but still better than most of the shit that got put out
this year.  Power pop punk.

And now, the WORST of 2002:

I heard some Tyrades 45's and for some reason bought a Carbonas LP...all
boring and unoriginal punk shit.  But the absolute WORST thing to come out
this year, hands down...well, what do you get when you throw new wave art
fag costumes, synth pop "we have KEYBOARDS and we're not gonna let you
forget it" keyboards, and insipid lyrics into the Nü-Wave hype machine?  The
Epoxies.
