About a zillion years ago... ok, maybe 20 now... Murphy's Law had a 'roadie' named Charlie.... he was an over 6 foot 300 lb linebacker of a guy... my only run in with him was when he was dating a girl from my HS my pals and her pals didn't get along (punk vs. punk HS stupidity). One day I was sitting in Washington Square Park waiting for someone and they came up to me, and Charlie punched me square in the face cause his girl didn't like me. I'm 5'1", and at the time weighed about 90 lbs. Needless to say, I saw stars. Granted she apologized for it in school saying he was high, but I was unimpressed. (as an aside she committed suicide while on angel dust a year or two later and for some reason I still feel bad about it... we could have been friends if not for stupidity)
ANYWAY... about a year later at Irving Plaza someone hit him with a beer can or something... he turned around and beat the living shit out of Ted's (See Hear)wife... who was about my size. I think he broke a few bones, I can't remember, but it was brutal and she pressed charges. I found out well after, else I would have testified about his psychosis on her behalf. Murphy's Law had the nerve to go and testify saying what a GREAT guy he was! I'm not positive, but I believe he walked!
I had met Jimmy years before that, and he was a real nice guy, and I saw him a few years ago in Providence, and again, nice guy... but after they tesitfied for that nutcase, I never defended them or recommended any of their records while working at Bleecker Bob's. You are who you surround yourself with... So I guess I'm not surprised.
