[bomp] mc5 lost tapes...

       i recall hearing that the tapes for the KOTJ album are all 
gone...either to a WEA warehouse fire back in the 80's or just a really poor filing 
system. the 5 recorded three different times for the album...the october 30-31st 
evening shows that are listed in the album, and then a "safety" set at the 
grande ballroom during the day time on the 31st, just in case things didn't work 
out in front of the crowd. unreleased versions from these shows were supposed to 
include "black to comm" and "looking at you". 
       there was also talk of a recording session the band did between KOTJ 
and Back in the USA, some acetates turned up by fred smith's first wife 
including a long version of "upper and lower egypt" as well as some other shit. 
elektra/rhino(?) is supposed to be re-releasing the first two albums with all the 
bonus crap they can dig up, but don't know how soon that'll happen.
