RE: [bomp] Re: Metal Machine Music [Sandinista tribute - are you in?]
thanks for the link to the Cale piece. Anyone know it's recording
and or release history?
Long ago one of my copy of white light/white heat developed a skip,
or a stuck i guess since there would be a very slight pop and then the same
couple of words and riffs would play over and over endlessly.
It first occurred when I was taking a long very hot soak in the tub.
I lay there relaxing and listening, planning to time my soak with
Sister Ray (17 minutes or so). I came out my reverie realizing that
the water was getting cold and that indeed the record was stuck.
I bought another copy, but still listened to the "extended"
version from time to time. When MMM came out I was ecstatic.
Just what I had been hearing as one layer of what the initial VU
was all about.
As for Reed being sometimes being quoted seemingly dissing MMM,
I think it is unfortunate but not untypical that he displays great
swings in opinion, etc. gawd, i recall being so embarressed for
him for the interviews he did while Loaded was being recorded.
Doug Yule being a young god or something like that.
enough meanderings from this fccing old man.
cheers.
