i always dug the gun clubs lack of guitar skill...to me, they sounded like
they could barely play which is why dave alvin's lead work on the las vegas
story was such a fun contrast. he was the perfect ringer for that record. and
is it just me but that band just did not have it after the las vegas story
record. todd

Lucky Jim does stray a bit too close to Robert CRay when its ain't sounding
like some late 60s heavy brit band. I really can't see how somebody could
listen to the Gun Club and not hear a pretty major Psych/ Garage influence.
Its been puzzling me since I saw it argued over. I think its there from the
very begginning and just gets more psychy as the band adds more jazz into its
melting pot. The later band make it even more obvious especially on Pastoral
