i know it seems un-bompworthy of me, but am i the only one who thinks this
track is hamfisted? its unusualness appears rather laboured, and the change
from common time to waltz time is awkward and ugly. i can't understand why
this song is so revered...
As the one who may revere this most, its big sound and forcefulness is part
of its Camp appeal. Nothing Nancy Sinatra ever did is without its Camp appeal,
even my favorite "Sugar Town". Hazelwood was less Camp when he did the Duane
Eddy stuff, but even those songs and arrangements have a sense of humor.
