I pretty sure Carly Carioli is a guy, he refers to his wife
in several articles.

I've got a cousin named Carl whose nickname is Carly and he's
decidedly unfeminine, he's a married police officer with a
couple kids. My uncle (his father) was also a career cop and
was also called Carly by my older aunts.

This was on the Italian side of the family, I ain't sure how
common it is...
