[bomp] The Knights of the New Crusade
Thanks for writing. I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer such a weighty
question. Anything that doesn't seem clear is going to be my fault, not the
Bible's, of course.
For a laugh, I sent them an email asking what they think about gay people.
Here's their reply:
"Well, different theologians have interpreted the Bible and specifically
Jesus's teachings differently, even when theologians from the same
branches. I think it's clear (though I'm open to changing my mind if
there's something I've overlooked) that just as humans are not saved by
their good works, they are not damned by any of their other works, whether
you personally want to call them bad or indifferent works. What makes the
difference in whether you go to Heaven or Hell is whether you choose to
accept Christ as your salvation into Heaven and whether you hold to that
decision to your dying moment.
I know that it's a tough idea, to think that even someone like Adolf Hitler
could at the last minute repent of his sins and accept Christ and go to
Heaven while good people who never had a chance to hear the Gospel can't,
but there's a lot about God that passes human understanding.
More important than what I think is what Jesus actually said. Remember,
Jesus never condemned homosexuality specifically. That's in the Old
Testament and in Paul's epistles. He condemned lustfulness.
Remember, Jesus does love you. I urge you to read the Gospels with an open
mind. Please write back any time.
God bless."
