Lagaan is a cricket film and is set in the 19th century during the British
Raj. It's about a group of peasants who challenge their British oppressors
to a game of cricket in order to escape a punitive tax. It was nominated for
an Oscar as best foreign film but lost out to the Bosnian film No Man's
Land.
