Also, Bing's role in jazz history is without question.
While his familiar screen persona wound up overriding
that aspect of his career, he actually did
some quite good jazz recordings every so often even
into the 50s (check out "Bing With A Beat"
sometime.....)
Not one of my faves, but I do like some of his
stuff.....(and I don't mean "Hey Jude....Hey Bing!")
