[bomp] Radio Rumpus Room playlist 12/31/04 (New Year's Eve)

Hey folks,

For going on 11 years now Radio Rumpus Room has been broadcast Fridays at 9-10:30 p.m. on KFAI Fresh Air Radio, FM 90.3 Minneapolis and 106.7 St. Paul. The show also streams live on the Internet, and as always, our two most recent shows are archived in their entirety in RealAudio. Just visit the RRR web page anytime to listen to this noise and accompanying yakkin' by Ron and Jean.

Here's to all of 2004 behind us, and full dose of 2005 staring us right in the face -- cheers!

Alright then, here's the Radio Rumpus Room playlist for New Year's Eve -- Friday, December 31, 2004:

SAVVY SHOW STARTER
The Replacements -- Tossin' and Turnin' (The Ledge double-12" EP; Sire)

Paul Westerberg and the Mats take a fun turn on this number that was a hit for Bobby Lewis in 1961. (Lewis sold three million copies and reached the #1 position on the Billboard pop charts.) This cover by the Mats first appeared on a 1987 double-12" EP that included two "Pleased To Meet Me" album tracks, but more interestingly previously unreleased recordings of "Route 66" (Bobby Troup), "Jungle Rock" (Hank Mizell) and "Election Day," a Westerberg original. Hey, with this show broadcast in the waning hours of our New Years Eve celebration, we figured we'd *all* be tossin' and turnin' come the next morning...
