[bomp] WILDGIRL Radio TONIGHT 8:06 CT on KUNI + excuses & news...

So - HAYA again from IOWA! Sincere apologies to all who wrote re: my
last WILDGIRL radio spam-mail. I haven't been able to work at the
'puter since then - will explain why when I finally do write back for
real. (And I WILL, promise!) AND MUCH THANKS for forwarding the
announcement - it's been great to hear from so many long-lost pals. Do
it again! (There's a cut & paste version of this at the end).

Here is the NEW news - Mr. Rock'n'Roll radio legend Bob Dorr invited me
to come tape that last guest DJ segment in January (he'd re-played an
old one at Christmas & got some WG fan-mail) BUT when we got to the
studio Feb. 22nd I got to tape YET ANOTHER segment for the KUNI
fundraiser that's going on NOW. (We taped a quick "scripted beg" spot,
too.)

This one airs TONIGHT at 8:06 pm, Central Time - HOTDOG!!!
So TUNE IN @ http://kuniradio.org

There's ONE particular record I got to play you might never hear on the
radio again - what a kick! (Question: were YOU a member?), AND check:
Bob has 2 video copies of the WILDGIRL'S GO-GO-RAMA Wildmotor Film (Ben
Vaughn score, A-Bones live, etc.) that he's going to give away w/a
bunch of other stuff I donated to raise some dough for KUNI.

Hopefully tonight's set isn't quite as squirrelly as the last one...
but likely it is! Hee!

BTW - Here are the "record pickin' guidelines" I followed last time,
FYI:

#1) No bands OR tunes I played back in '98 (same show as 12/25/04) - so
these were OUT (damn):

FANCY - WILD THING, MITCH RYDER & THE DETROIT WHEELS - SOCK IT TO ME
BABY, SONICS - BOSS HOSS - THE WAILERS - HANG UP, PAUL REVERE & THE
RAIDERS - POWDER BLUE MERCEDES QUEEN, WARNER BROS. - VA ROOM, STATUS
QUO - PICTURES OF MATCHSTICK MEN, MARK BOLAN & T-REX - SOLID GOLD EASY
ACTION, TOMMY JAMES & THE SHONDELLS - SAY I AM, DUANE EDDY - STALKIN',
MOUNTAIN - MISSISSIPPI QUEEN, THE SAXONS - THE CAMEL WALK, LINK WRAY -
ACE OF SPADES

I really shot my wad, so to speak.

#2) Nothing Bob had played in the last 4 months... Yipes! - he plays 3
hours of good shit every weekend.

#3) Nothing recorded after 1975 (a BACKTRACKS rule, but I broke it once
with Bob's permission).

#4) I had to dig out the darn records... they're all still jammed in
U-Haul boxes & stacked in the back of a huge, cold crowded closet =
REALLY HARD WORK, so I found a few things, gave up after sorting all
the singles & three 12" boxes - and borrowed a bunch of stuff.

#5 No cut longer than 2 & 1/2 minutes... (more songs per hour that way).

#6 Nothing you'd typically hear on a classic rock or oldies station
around here. (ie: Little Richard or Cheap Trick... pretty good
commercial radio in general - not much Genesis or Billy Joel, thank
God.)

#7 Bob requested for the first song.
If you didn't hear it, here's the set list:
ORVILLE COUCH & THE TROUBLE MAKERS - WILD GIRL, RALPH NEILSEN & THE
CHANCELLORS - SCREAM, REUNION - LIFE IS A ROCK, B. BUMBLE AND THE
STINGERS - BUMBLE BOOGIE, THE NEW YORK DOLLS - PERSONALITY CRISIS, THE
TROGGS - COME NOW, KASENETZ-KATZ SWINGING ORCHESTRAL CHOIR - QUICK JOEY
SMALL, JOHN KONGOS - HE'S GONNA STEP ON YOU, FREDDIE CANNON -
TALLAHASSEE LASSIE, IKE & TINA TURNER - NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS, DEAD BOYS
- SONIC REDUCER, LOS MOCKERS - MAKE UP YOUR MIND, THE MONKEES -
VALERIE.

Whew. It was tough to figure out what to bring & esp. to have 2 months
to think about it. But it rocked & turned out plenty screwy enough to
be a typical WG show... But I TELL YOU, it was a bitch. Only ONE hour,
not live, well... waaaaagh! I'm spoiled. Enough excuses & rambling. (or
not)

Tonight's bit is pretty fun - hope you can tune in & hear me be stupid
some more! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, have a great weekend, and
Happy Birthday Yesterday, Ms. Kunreuther, and Happy Birthday Last
Month, Sis! (I bad.)

xoxox,
E. WG.
