One of my ex girlfriends had a serious self
identification with Sally Bowles.....although I doubt
she read Isherwood. Her Cabaret fixation came via Bob
Fosse, John Kander, Fred Ebb and Liza, not Isherwood's
books.
For that matter, I;ve never read Isherwood, although
"Cabaret" the film is IMO the best musical ever made.
