[bomp] More Jack Kane

Jack Kane was just mentioned on the Shindig list. He wasn't a member
there, but his name was well-known. LLT apologized for not writing
something about him sooner, but hadn't known that anyone over there
knew him. She's in quotes, and I wrote the answer.

<< I didn't know anybody here,who isn't on bomp or blr, knew Jack. I
am sorry the word wasn't passed on sooner. >>

On those two lists, we only knew Jack as the rapier wit who wrote
impenetrable English-English in all lower-case. These UK and
European Types over here knew his name much better (and much longer),
from his writing in one of their most popular magazines.

I'm still torn up over this. I did some archival digging and I came
up with my favorite Angry Jack missive:

Laura asks:

<< Where is Blackpool in relation to London? >>

the end of the world. chips swimmming in dripping and bloody horrible
gravy, alky wilsons on the corner supping tennant's super and
flogging 'faive lighters fer a poond', fat slags with corned-beef
legs and miniskirts in winter, pisshead students up 'for conference',
muff-mice washed up on the polluted beach, and mr pound shops
everywhere.

It would have taken Charles Dickens thirty pages to fill my brain
with that many pictures.

"Fat slags with corned-beef legs" is an image which will never leave
me. I was unhappy about that fact while Jack was still alive. Now I
kinda treasure it.
