[bomp] The long-awaited Misty Lane #19 is now ready!

Just wanted to put out a reminder that possibly the
most impressive garage magazine of 2005 can be now
imported from Italy...

Ted

Below is my review of the latest & greatest issue.
*****************************************************
The long awaited Misty Lane #19 is now ready to land
at final destinations all over the world. Editor
Massimo del Pozzo, associate editor Steve Elliott,
graphic artist Mr. Mendez and international circle of
writers have conspired to take magazine to new
levels--surpassing all previous excellent efforts.
Moreover, the words, photos and graphics combine to
emanate and express the overall spirit of the
mid-sixties. This goes several steps beyond a labor of
love and is a full expression of the something greater
that happened in the mid-sixties and still can be
found today for those willing to make the rewarding
efforts to look and listen to the past. Both perennial
garage topics and findings from previously unexplored
areas are featured. Interviews with the cult famous
musicians of the 13th Floor Elevators and the Electric
Prunes and a Munsters article are just are few
examples of the former, while an article on English
Christian beat music searches in directions that have
yet to be covered in the realms of garage
publications.

In this day and age of the internet, there is
something very special about being immersed in the
print, photos and sharp design of a devoted magazine.
Previous readers will know of Misty Lane's sharp focus
on U.S. garage bands from the mid-sixties. This issue
is no exception with a 20-page special on U.S. garage
bands. While mid-sixties combos and impressive current
bands (e.g., The Indikation) inspired by these
sounds are the intensive focus, Misty Lane does not
believe in staying narrow or orthodox. This issue
zooms out to capture related scenes by exploring the
lands of Tropicalia, connecting with '77 punk & power
pop (e.g. the Bashers and the Last) and revisiting the
brambly grounds of '80s college/ roots rock pioneers
House of Freaks. Interspersed are cool little corners
on the germane worlds of music books and "modernist"
style. Well-written record reviews top things off on a
strong note.

While this deserves to be in the racks of musical
"boutikis" and newsstands, this import magazine is
harder to come by (like most things cool.) However,
Mass makes things easy for U.S. readers and accepts
PayPal to the email below. From the U.S., the price is
$20 and includes a 25 track CD that round-ups rare
songs from many of the bands featured in the issue.
Remember this treasure is heavy and almost half of
cost goes towards shipping #19 in from the Roman
Garage Empire of Misty Lane.

Mass accepts Paypal (and any questions, comments) at:
