I caught this when it aired on HBO. It was depressing,
though I'm not sure if the depiction of him being a
monster was exaggerated or not, maybe it was right on
target. It sorta took the fun out of watching his
movies for a while after seeing it (I became
pre-occupied thinking about what an a-hole he was). 
I agree, there was something cheesey about it,
couldn't put my finger on it. Anyway, despite
everything, it's worth seeing once if you're a fan,
but not to buy.
Haven't seen "What's New Pussycat?", but it just
became available on Netflix.
