That was the first Beach Boys book I ever read.  It came out at a 
serendipitous time: right before the first Capitol reissues of the "Smile-Era" LPs and 
that excellent 7-LP box set from the UK.

I still go back to Preiss' book as my main reference source.  R.I.P.
