i listened to this most of the way back from ann arbor this weekend. haven't
had a chance to look through the liners yet, but two MAJOR omissions on here,
sort of the "children of nuggets" version of "gloria" and "96 tears" not being
on the '98 nuggets box.
1.) "darn well" - the mosquitos
and even more glaringly -
2.) "nothing's from today" - the vipers
other than that, great, great stuff. what put me over the edge as far as
purchasing this set was hearing the swingin neckbreakers' "i live for buzz" on
the in-store overhead at wazoo in ann arbor. i asked the counter guy if this
was the CON box...he said it was, and i duly handed over my 63 shells and
change. holy crap. how i went this many years without hearing "i live for buzz"
i'll never know. what's great about this set is that "oh FUCK" feeling of
discovery that's been so absent for me on most 60s reissues for the past few
years. i don't like everything on this box, but i have definitely been turned
onto some stuff i would never have heard otherwise...
but damn, i can't believe those two tracks were omitted......
