I knew we'd hit some classification snags, I was just
thinking of British acts some of my friends were into
in the mid-late 80s (high school/early college years
for me). Bob Smith was a Banshee, so there are some
definite ties among some of those groups.
I never really listened to much Teardrop Explodes, I'm
not a big P Furs fan either, but they both have their
merits. Can I toss in the Monochrome Set though? The
Lester Square-era stuff is great (plus there's an Adam
and the Ants/Bow Wow Wow tie-in).
Hmm, now Youth Brigade is more of a typical 80s band
that I used to listen to, even though I never had
their album. I'd probably give it a listen if I heard
it today, but it wouldn't make it into medium rotation.
