Are you sure you're not talking about "Be Here Now"
Oasis rather than "Definitely Maybe" Oasis?
"Definitely Maybe" is a great rockin' album - nothing
too profound or musically ground breaking, but with
solidly written hook filled songs, well played and
with a great attitude and swagger. Not pretentious at
all, unlike some of their later work - they hadn't
turned into self-parody yet.
And there is no

If we're going to make comparisons with greats of the
past, I think
"Slayed" would be a better comparison than "Forever
Changes".
So, Liam isn't Arthur Lee - who else is? Comparing the
greatness of "Forever Changes" with that of
"Definitely Maybe" is like comparing Miles Davis to
Jimmy Smith, or comparing Faulkner to Hammett - i.e.
apples and oranges, both great in their own respective
ways/genres. It's all good.
They annoy the shit

Somehow, I suspect that if "Definitely Maybe" had
bombed commercially, certain people on this list might
have a different view. "Obscure Beatles/Kinks/T. Rex
influenced forgotten classic"
