[bomp] Booby Traps and Royal Purple

Hey,

Instead of posting the all-time greatest song today, I'll opt for two of the
coolest long-playing discs (ie. CDs) you're likely to come across this year!

First, the Booby Traps from Austrailia are chicks and cats that spit out the
fuzz relentlessly from the opening notes of the lead-off, "Shoulda Known
Better" to the last primitive beat of "Be My Cave Man".  Reminiscent of the
best the Headcoatees and Pandoras had to offer combined with the fast-paced
fury of April March Sings Along With The Makers (back when they were a
garage/punk sensation).  It's available at bomp.com.

And then there's the promo cD we recently got from Mike Syn of the insomniacs
featuring his other boss band, the Royal Purple.  To my ears, this ton o fun
aptly titled, Transcendental Medication" sparkles with vintage 60's
garage/freakbeat NOW sound with just a touch of lysergic vibration for good
measure.  Throw in a few choice covers and some lead vocals by cynthia of the
High School Sweethearts and you've got yourself a winner.  Check 'em out on
