Yeah, I put that one up, but - really - it's thanks to Eamonn Bowles
of The Martinets. My copy of that show got chewed by a car stereo years
ago. Eamonn also gave me a copy of his old band, The Fabians, live at
Max's Kansas City in June of '81. That, too, has been presented as a
podcast on GaragePunk.com. (The live stuff on GaragePunk.com goes under
the heading, "Out Of The Vaults, Into Your Ears".) In addition to
Eamonn, The Martinets included Iain Morrison and Steve Prisco, who would
later become members of The Mosquitos.

That came from a ton of practice. The Mosquitos once told me they
rehearsed 5 nights a week, one with vocals-only.
What bands do you *want* to hear? I mainly have Mosquitos and
Secret Service material, although I think there may also be an Optic
Nerve tape sitting around. Plus, a friend of mine used to tape a bunch
of those shows.

I completely understand what you mean. For me, it was The Dive,
Sparks in Huntington, LI, and a couple clubs in Rochester, NY. Of
course, as I was doing college radio in Rochester, I also had to hear a
bunch of the...other stuff. <grin> But the excitement...the LIFE...of
the 80s was exactly what you're referring to.

That makes it *your* job to correct that, Tom.

I used to think it was FOW-bert. (With the "fow" being like "ow, it
hurts.")
    These days I'm fairly sure it's "faux-BEAR."
    I could be completely wrong.
