[bomp] Nancy Neon's Birthday Bash

I just wanted to give a big thank you to Frank Rowe for his "Folky Frank"
set which was witty and political aware, and the Classic Ruins who sounded
great especially with the three guitar attack of Rowe, Crane, and Borgioli on
"Rawhide" and "Geraldine" underscored by Bobby Bare's power on the drums. The
Radio Knives are a basic,no frills, three piece that are TOTALLY PRIMAL! They
drive you to dance. Another great band that defied the crowd not to dance was
The Prime Movers who blended their killer originals with impeccably chosen
covers like the Modern Lovers' "She Cracked", Vertebrats' "Left In The Dark",
"Girl Can't Help It",etc.. Lyres' have burned The Primitives' "Every Minute Of
Every Day" into my brain...they rocked me so hard, I could have wrung out my
sweat drenched clothes on the KIrkland's sidewalk! . Of course, Lyres BURNED
US UP AND DOWN on all the faves- "How Do You Know, "Don't Give It Up
Now",ShePays The Rent,(fast),"HelpYou Ann,"Soapy", and newer faves like Tony
Jackon's "You're My Number One and The Blizzards' "I'm Your Guy". The very
pleasant surprise was the New Colony Six's "I Confess" with Jeff's voice sounding
his soulful best. The Stoics' "Enough Of What I Need" continued the hypnotic
vibe. Lyres are my fave combo and August 19's gig proved why. The rockers who
filled the dance floor would agree, I believe. In closing, thanks to Mickey
Bliss without whom this would have never happened, the bands, Fish The
Magish(who raised money for Lymphoma)all the people who came including Brett
Milano, T. Max & the lovely Ms. Flange,MIss Lyn, Roy Rubenstein, visiting from
Austin ,TX-Helanie Saad, Judd Williams(former Real Kids and saver of Billy B's
life), Bob Colby,Perry Adler, Michael Stewart from the Brigands, Billy B, and
MJ Quirk who brought out the Rickenbacker and Piggy to sing The Beatles B'day
Song for me.Lastbut not least, thanks to Arthur Freedman who got Billy and I
there as well as taping this great event. If I forgot anyone, please forgive
me-oh yeah-Rachel Lee, Rona(great dancer),Rachel's beautiful earring making
friend, Joanie-Paul Murphy's cousin and Joanie's brother,Janice(Danny's
girl),and a cool guy from my job,I think it's Mark! ,Tara McManus from the
Turpentine Brothers. Watch out, August 19, 2007(or the Sat. closest to that date)
Warmest Wishes, Nancy Neon
