Venice, FREE, Chicano Rock 'n' Roll Film Night, Wednesday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m.

Here's a good reason to get out to Venice Beach in time to watch the sun set 
on summer; we're throwing a Chicano Rock 'n' Roll Film Night at Sponto 
Gallery, beginning at 7 p.m.  We'll show super-rare clips of Thee Midniters, Cannibal 
& the Headhunters and Ritchie Valens, screen 20 minutes of a work-in-progress 
documentary on the East L.A. groups by Jon Wilkman, have a Q&A with Little 
Wille G. and Jimmy Espinoza of Thee Midniters (Norton Records has just released 
a Garage compilation on the group called IN THEE MIDNITE HOUR!!!).  To end the 
night, there will be a very cool movie shot in Bunker Hill, 1952, called THE 
RING.  The film is rare for that period in that it features a mostly Chicano 
cast (Rita Moreno stars). Ruben Guevara (Ruben & the Jets) will start the night 
off with a poem.

Sponto Gallery is at 7 Dudley Street in Venice, California.  Come between 6
