Why?  Most likely they don't still exist.  The only chance that masters have 
for being properly archived and saved is when the sessions end up becoming a 
commercial artifact, an "actually-released" record by an "actual record 
company."  Demos submitted to a record company for consideration are another matter 
altogether.  The only way the masters still exist is if either the producer or 
one of the band members kept them.  More likely, the tape was used again 
(three or four times) and then thrown away -- that's standard practice, or at least 
it was in the 60s...
