[bomp] A Rockin' December 16 and A Neon New Year's Eve
Greetings Bompers! Thanks to all the bands that rocked Saturday,December 16 at the Kirkland in Somerville,Mass.! Also thanks to the people that came and tore up the dance floor! We were up against a lot with Tmax's party just up the street and loads of cool shows including the Downbeat 5 plus holiday parties,but the turn out was great. And everyone including the bands-Lyres, Mondo Topless, The Coffin Lids,and The Belmondos had a blast! The Belmondos brought their Wormtown contingent and defied the crowd to sit still. I had forgotten what a truly great dance band they are(come see Artie's band,THE CRYBABIES,at NEON NITE,January 13 with DJ POKEMONOJEFF,LADY KENSINGTON AND THE BEAT LORDS,and THE COME AROUNDS...I'm not against having one more female oriented band like The Unitards! )The Coffin Lids were psychosexy like no one since the Cramps. Mondo Topless from Phily won over the crowd with their Vox driven humor filled garage rock( gcheck out "Panty Sniffer" and their new CD on Get Hip.)Lyres continued their string of great Kirkland shows since August. Jeff has always been my favorite singer of the garage scene but his singing gets stronger and stronger. He really gets a chance to SHINE on "We Ain't Got Nothin' Apart","Touch","Baby What's Wrong With You",and the one that's been burned into my brain for months-"Every Minute Of Everyday". Mondo Sam loved seeing Jeff play his Vox "baby". I notice!

Thanks to Michael Lynch for the cool Rolling Stones promo poster. Thanks to Rockin' Ronnie for being my go-go gal pal. Thanks to Billy Borgioli for going to the club with me on Thursday to decorate the tree(Sniff! Sniff! Boo hoo! Someone stole all the mini Xmas stockings I made with band names in glitter glue...just call me the garage rock Martha Stewart!)Thanks to Mickey for everything. Thanks to Brett Milano for playing the rock'n' holiday tunes. Thanks To Arthur Freedman who made a surprise appearance on the dance floor. He slow danced with beautiful Michelle Meadows-what a smoothie! Thanks for the lift Artie,you are a lifesaver! Randy,your orange Stoli didn't hurt either!
