If you already have a turntable and a phono preamp (or
an amp or receiver with a phono input) laying around then
you don't need one of these, just get an adapter cable
that connects from the output jacks on the amp/receiver/
preamp to the LINE IN on your computer's sound card.
The adapter cable should only run you around $5-$10 or so
and the Audacity software is free so you'll save a nice
chunk of change.
Otherwise, go for it.
