[bomp] Riot on Sunset Strip Weekend @ The Egyptian, Hollywood Blvd!

Riot On Sunset Strip Weekend @ The Egyptian, Hollywood Blvd!
This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, The American Cinematheque @ The Egyptian
Theater (6712 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, California) will present the
Riot On Sunset Strip Weekend.

Much like their successful "Mods & Rockers" series, the "Riot On Sunset
Strip Weekend" will emphasize films based on the Los Angeles
Mod/Pop/Psychedelic/Garage scene of the mid-'60s. It's an extension of my new book, Riot on
Sunset Strip: Rock 'n' Roll's Last Stand in Hollywood (Jawbone Press, London,
foreword by Arthur Lee of Love).

Friday night The Egyptian will screen "Riot On Sunset Strip," plus the
documentary "You Are What You Eat"

A Saturday afteroon matinee at 4 p.m. will feature "The Cool Ones" (with a
special guest, to be confirmed later today)

Saturday night will be "The Trip," plus the documentary "Mondo Hollywood"

Sunday night will be "The Love Ins," plus the new documentary on The
Thirteenth Floor Elevators' Roky Erikson, "You're Gonna Miss Me"

trip_2007.htm

What the link don't say (yet) is that Larry Tamblyn and Tony Valentino from
the Standells will be my interview/audience Q&A guest on Friday after "Riot
on Sunset Strip" screens, and "Mondo Hollywood" director Robert Carl Cohen
will be my guest after that film runs on Saturday. Davie Allan, who played
guitar on many teen exploitation soundtracks during the mid-'60s L.A. moment,
will be on hand Saturday night to help introduce one of the films and discuss
his work in the movies.

The Woolly Bandits will play in the courtyard on Saturday @ 5:30 (introduced
by Lloyd Thaxton, 1960s host of the rock 'n' roll Go Go dancing TV raveup
The Lloyd Thaxton Show) after The Cool Ones. Audrey Moorehead of It's Happening
and Switched On Designs also has some surprises cooked up, and there will be
vendors selling '60s stuff in the courtyard on Saturday as well.

Can ya dig it?
