I used to have the 8-track w/ "Overture" on it and I don't recall any glaring similarity to Do Ya'.
The original by The Move is pretty much the same song with no violoins. Jeff Lynne was in the band by that time, and I think he wrote it and it sure sounds like him singing.
There's nor real difference between "very early ELO" and "very late The Move"--it was exactly the same guys for a while.
