RE: [bomp] "When the grooves of a lifetime start to feel like a rut..."

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Joe!
I'm not sure if that's exactly what Jim meant, although it is right on track with my anti-rare grooves screed posted elsewhere. True, he's never heard me spin (and we are certainly on good terms), but I think he meant DJs who seem to think that "obscure" and "rare" is somehow better than just a good floor pounder.
In fact, I fell into a trap one night at Lucky Cat; everybody was up and dancing to my crazy ass '60s garage rock 45s when I saw a couple of collectors. My next record was a rarity ...and everyone sat down!

  Here's my next one:
  >SOUL A G0-G0!
with DJ Jumpy and guest Electric Lady Alexandra blasting soul 45s all night.

Only at Huckleberry BAR, 588 Grand St., East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
L train or B43 bus to Graham Ave., 10PM, free. Theres food and a nice selection of beers along with a real dance floor.

He apparently never heard a hit-packed set from DJ Jumpy. His loss!
