Staten Island's best (perhaps only!) '60s-ish band will do a rare Brooklyn gig.
The Recruders [who are much more polished than their name implies] will be blasting songs like "See If I Care," "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," and, er, "The Man From UNCLE."
Also on the bill is WCBS-FM radio legend Bob Shannon and extra added attraction, DJ Jumpy. I will spin all '60s garage rock 45s but am giving Bob a free hand to do as he sees fit.
Lucky Cat, 245 Grand St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Saturday, May 24, 10PM-4AM, FREE, no fee
Convenient to the L train/B 61 bus
Real stage, good sound system, intimate setting, bar includes specialty pizza and tea!
Also: Jumpy warms up on Tues, May 20 with a birthday blast, spinning frat and rockabilly 45s @ Matchless, 577 Manhattan Ave., Greenpoint, Brooklyn, 8-9:30. Other good DJs to follow.
