Re: Fake live albums (was: Kasenatz-Katz Singing Circus album, anyonewant it?)

Fake Live albums, a great thread idea!

Lots of classics out there, including:

The Thirteenth Floor Elevators "Live" on International Artists, includes
alt. version of "Tried to Hide" and some other cuts not elsewhere
released, though undubbed versions have surfaced. Some of the most
over-the-top dubbed in applause ever! I like it when the guitar solo on
"You Can't Hurt Me Anymore" starts, and they turn the audience up to 11.

The Seeds "Raw & Alive" Cool alt versions of the classics, plus some cuts
only on this lp like the deadly "Night Time Girl."

The Outsiders (US) - great version of "Gloria", also "Time Won't Let Me"
has the horns deleted from the original mix and a distorted guitar
overdubbed instead (but it is the same take as the hit).

Kenny and the Kasuals - "At the Studio Club" - for this one they dubbed a
totally disinterested audience in - not even clapping, just talking to
each other - between songs, which include smoking takes on "Gloria" and
"Empty Heart."

Paul Revere and the Raiders - "Here They Come" - one side is fake live,
this is some of my absolute top favorite Raiders stuff, just covers of
standards like "Money" and "Ooh Poo Pah Doo," but Lindsay's vocals are
insane, and the band is loose and wild sounding. It was their first
Columbia lp. I guess their earlier Sande/Jerden lp is fake live too...

Some fake live 45s:

The VanDells - "Louie Go Home" a Raiders cover with fake applause, and an
announcer introducing it "Ladies and gentlemen, the Vaaaaan Dells!" They
do the revised version of "Louie" from the Midnight Ride lp.

The Renegades IV - "Wine Wine Wine" on Dubonay rec's out of Grand Rapids
MI - reissued on a Norton boot ep I think. Nice raucous version.

Question Mark and the Mysterians - "I Love You Baby (Like Nobody's
Business)" - flipside of "Make You Mine" on Capitol, and a top fave of
mine, there are lots of people "partying" in the background, at the end a
fake siren comes on heralding the arrival of the cops... at several points
you can also hear guitarist Bobby Balderama yelling "Hey Balderama!"
(Question Mark told me it was him saying his own name!).

And this is just the tip of the iceberg on this subject...
