Re: songs naming other songs
The Beatles had a whole thread of songs naming other songs:
"Glass Onion" mentions "Fool on the Hill", "I Am the Walrus", "Lady
Madonna", "Fixing a Hole", and "Strawberry
Fields Forever".
"Savoy Truffle" mentions "Obi Li Di, Obi La Da".
"Lady Madonna" itself references "I Am the Walrus" (See How They Run).
"I Am The Walrus" makes reference to "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".
And "Come Together" borrows two lines from Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me"
(Which later resulted in
a lawsuit from Berry).
Almost forgot: "Run for Your Life" also borrows two lines from Elvis' "Baby,
Let's Play House".
