Sweden rocks ! pt.7

just a quick update from what the big north has offered these last
weeks...
- Hellacopters "Grande Rock" LP. Great great new LP, even if
much less savage and more heavy than "Paying The Dues"... You'll find on
it a great mix of Stones ("Beggar's Banquet" period) and
Radio Birdman influences; a true R&R winner and one of my
fave lp currently. (White Jazz Rds)
- Sewergrooves "Songs From The Sewer" LP. Label mates of the
Strollers and one of today's best heavy punk bands. You've maybe discovered
them with the 3 7'' they have issued on Low Impact or thru the Estrus
10'' compilation. Excellent LP, with a quality of composition equal to the
Hellacopters and Turbonegro's best titles. (Low Impact Rds)
- The Hives "Aka Idiot" EP. I've discovered this garage PUNK band with
their split with the Pricks a few months ago and they sounded to me as
full of promises... their new EP is a total blast, and anybody into speed
garage punk ala New Bomb Turks and OP Ivy need that one... 5 trax are on
that one and they are all so great aand catchy  you'll cry when you'll
hear them on Pebbles 76 in 2024.
- The Strollers "Falling Right Down" LP... didn't hear that one yet, but
those like me who had the cahnce to listen to their live broadcasted on the
swedish air waves a few weeks ago know what gems gonna be featured
on that one... probably the garage lp of the year!

There's loadsa more new other swedish stuff available (Puffball, Demons,
Peepshows, etc...) now but of less interest. But there's also a new Backyard
Babies LP available now, issued at 500 copies in Sweden, and featuring rare,
live, "previously unissued" stuff, etc... it's called "Safety Pin & Leopard
Skins",
it's on 180g vinyl, but don't know what it's worth for now, I'm still waiting
for my copy to arrive. Also awaited here is the new Roadrunners 7'' that has
just come out on Beluga Rds, with a gorgeous sleeve. Don't miss also the
new Flaming Sideburns 7'' on Estrus, it's a cool one
THink that my english is becoming worth and worth, time to stop...
