Ed Cobb
Ok we all know he was a dick and never respected any of the bands that he
recorded. Regardless, when he recorded a band properly, they sounded great!
The Standells, Chocolate Watchband and The E Types songs he produced have a
sound that isn't too raw and isn't too poppy. They just sound real cool.
So what is the secret? I know that he puts reverb on the vocals and drums a
lot, which gives the songs a cool dreamy feel. But any other winning
recording tips to get that sound?
Also besides the previously mentioned bands, did Cobb produce any other cool
sounding bands?
It's too bad he messed up so many bands' records by changing singers and
adding unecessary effects, but when he let the kids play he captured their
sound like no other.
