AND NOW for something completely different. Mamie Van Doren, a '50s era
blond bombshell who survived to tell the tale - and boy, does she have tales
to tell! - has signed to do a TV pilot called "The Vegas Connection." Mamie
is cast as the proprietor of a topless bar. This is a given, yes? Van
Doren's co-star is Bob Carradine. He's a crime buster, Mamie's his
informant - and the proprietor of a topless bar. (We can't emphasize this
enough!) Mamie's always had quite a lot of fun with her image and her
career, which consisted mostly of B-movies involving teenage hormones run
amok. This is Van Doren's first turn on the small screen. Given her moxie, I
expect a TV Guide cover any minute.
