Good to see that Bomp is back (and that 20 year comp. disk is to kill
for!).

Anyone else catch the Fleshtones this tour? Saw them for the first time
in ten years - they were as great as they ever were in the 80's
(although conspicuously lacking the brass...). Despite the band's
undiminished energy, the crowd was stock-still, like they were watching
a video monitor. Very disconcerting - I mean, I've seen photos of people
crowd surfing to Counting Crows.

Welcome back online, Bomp! This list was certainly missed. There's a
song in there somewhere ...

Yeah, I think I saw the same show - 930 Club in DC? The crowd was full of
frat boy types there to see Dick Dale do his tune from the Pulp Fiction
soundtrack just so they could mosh - which they did to that one song and
nothing else. They could have cared less about the other 2 bands on the bill -
the Fleshtones and the Flat Duo Jets, both of which put on great shows -
much better than Dick Dale did that night. I saw The Fleshtones the next
night in Baltimore and they had a much more receptive audience. Peter Z.
told me afterwards that he hated doing the show at the 930 because of the
crowd. The Fleshtones were great on both nights.

> EricaYeah, the "930" show. Too bad, I would never have thought that Zaremba
& crew would meet with such a tepid reception at that club. And yeah,
those little "gee, so this is punk" turds: they proved impervious to all
attempts at reason, but very aerodynamic (esp. after stomping on my
wife's foot for the 2nd time).

Since nobody has started a thread yet, here's a question I've been saving all
these months while the list was in limbo:

That series of UK compilations called "The British Psychedelic Trip" -- are
they out on CD, and if so, which ones? Does anybody know?

you.

Job", on 360 Twist...

To all those who've been asking, the Alpha Stone 10" is now in stock
(finally!) so order 'em from Bomp mailorder for quickest delivery. Should be
in stores next week I suppose.

Also out, for those who care (and you should) are TWO new albums from the
Brian Jones Massacre: Take It From the Man, their version of Beggars Banquet,
and a limited pressing of Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request (you can
imagine what that sounds like... very trippy). Only a thousand of these are
being pressed so get em while you can

J., the Insomniacs have a great CD on Estrus called Wake Up. It is a =
killer combination of the 60s garage bands and the late 70s power pop =
sound (but much ballsier than the Shoes). On the CD, the covers of the =
Easybeats "Friday on my Mind" and the Small Faces "I've Got Mine" pale =
in comparison to their originals. Pick it up!
You mentioned the Zeros (great). But did you ever see another band from =
the Southwest called the Nervebreakers? On the recent CD, the opening =
cut is a great instro version of "Good, Bad and Ugly." I thought it may =
have provided some inspiration to your band, back in the "old" days.
