The 'Living Eyes' re-issue was actually taken from the original master
tapes, which were not available when the original album was mastered, due to
(from memory) a mad bastard who ran Rockfield Studios in Wales absconding
with them. Thus 'Living Eyes' was mastered originally from a rough two-track
mix-down, to the dissatisfaction of the band. The tapes later reappeared and
were used in the recent re-issue. Correct me if I have any of this akilter,
Deniz (and g'day). I think that the 'Radios Appear' mix is the same as the
original, just perhaps clearer with a good digital remaster. I couldn't tell
much difference anyway. You get some extra tracks with the re-issues too, so
that is a plus (especially if you don't have 'Aloha, Bobby and Danno',
frinstance due to have Australian versions of the originals, and thus miss
out one of Birdman's finset moment). I think Deniz Tek Band still play this.

The ultimate Birdman artifact, however, remains the box set 'Under the
Ashes', posters, patches and all, and if you have the box you can stick the
re-issues in it and lay the ghost to rest.

Blair,

Please refer to issue 1 of Do The Pop for Red Eye's address. I also saw
the releases at Tower, if that's any help, but they were very expensive
imports!

Best,

Alan & Lisa

Does anyone on this list know the correct phone number for Sympathy for the
Record Industry?

Many thanks,

Does anyone know if there is anyone out there releasing stuff by the
Sonics (maybe G. Roslie's on the list...?)? I know one label (can't
recall name... they've done the Wailers also) has released a couple of
cds, and that Bomp put out a sort of semi-Sonics lp in "81(?)... but
would be interested in finding out if anything else is available.

Thanks

Radios Appear was remastered by Don Bartley at EMI with Rob. Living
Eyes was completely remixed by Rob and myself. The only way you can get
them at the moment is via a big record outlet such as Virgin Megastore
in LA or Tower Records, which had them in stock last time I was in LA;
or your local record store might import them for you on special order.
It will be very expensive, maybe $25/cd. That's why we'd like to get
them out on a US label at a reasonable price. When and if it happens
I'll update the list.

Radio Birdman would like to play New Years Eve in Australia, then tour
Europe for the month of Jan 97. As far as I know that is on the cards.
It is possible but uncertain whether that would include gigs in LA and
NY on the way over.

Regards, Deniz

Hi, all. After being on line for almost a year, I'm glad to
finally discover a list devoted to 60's garage related music.
Yay!

Someone posted recently asking if there are any good lists devoted
to lounge/exotica. I suggest you check out the Exotica list.
Send a message saying "subscribe exotica" to
"majordomo@xmission.com."

cheers,
