Deniz...
All I can say is PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE play NYC! I know a *ton*
of people who would absolutely flip to see you guys. I've got friends
from Portland, Maine down thru Washington, DC who would journey to NY for
the event.

  Hi!
Has anyone heard this band ? They had several LPs in the 60's in the
United Artists label. Are they any good (do they play commercial pop or
garage-pop music)?

Ben Waugh wrote about the Sonics and the Wailers.
First, I seriously doubt that Gerry is on the list, in fact I even
doubt he owns a computer. We heard he was living in Gig Harbor,
painting houses or something.
Ben, Etiquette released "The Boys From Tacoma" in 1994. It's a
collection of some of their stuff, from their second album up to their
"psychedelic" attempt on "Walk Thru The People." Nothing from their
debut album is on it due to copyright problems, but it's been
bootlegged several times.
Also, Etiquette just reissued a single CD of "The Ultimate Sonics" with
an interview with Andy Parypa at the end, as well as a hilarious ad for
one of their shows from Seattle radio, circa '65.

Where do you start with Sonics re-issues?

Several years ago the French label Fan Club (subsidary of New Rose) licensed
the first two albums on Etiquette and placed them back to back on one CD.
Then Big Beat records in the UK went one better and did the same but with
bonus tracks. I also believe that the re-activated Etiquette label has put
together a Sonics package. Additionaly there is a very good CD now
available of Jerden material. OK then here is a brief discography to get
you going:

Here Are The Sonics/Boom Fan Club FC017 CD
The Ultimate Sonics Etiquette ETCD 024027 (2 CDs -
32 songs)
Maintaining My Cool Jerden JRCD 7001

I do not have the Big Beat CD details to hand but as with all of the labels
re-issues the packaging and mastering are probably very good. Try and get
this in preference to the Fan Club version. Unfortunately the Etiquette
material is quite expensive for us Europeans (Is this the same in the
States?). Still sometimes you have to bite the bullet as with the excellent
Wailers retrospective.

Happy listening
