Subject: Dick & Dee Dee + Stones 45?

I recently read an interview with Dick St. John in a collector's magazine
where he mentioned that Dick and Dee Dee had cut a bunch of unreleased
tunes "with the Stones" in England early on, ca. 63-64. He then said
"well, one record came out." I have a Warner Bros. 45 of "Some Things
Just Stick In Your Mind"/"When Blue Turns To Grey" which is produced by
Andrew Loog Oldham (both tunes are Jagger/Richard comps.) While it seems
obvious that this must be the Stones record Dick referred to, I thought
I'd confirm that the Stones are actually playing on it. The
guitar break sounds sort of like somebody other than Jones or Richard to
me on "Grey." No doubt there is some Stones Discog. book that would
clarify this, but I don't have a copy.

Anybody know more about this? I kind of like this 45.

Mike Vraney managed the Dead Kennedys for a while....

Neal Skok does not have email. He doesn't even have a computer. Or the
ability to socialize with others without insulting them or calling them
names.

Subject: Space Cossacks land in Arlington, VA

Last night, in a pub as intimately proportioned as child's lunch pail
(with a bar where you'd expect the thermos to be), DC's own surf
quartet, the Space Cossacks, played with an intensity that can only be
described as relentless. Now, I'm into my third pot of coffee this
morning, and my lids are held at about half-mast courtesy of fishing
hooks skillfully tied to the strands of my forelock, but I have to say
that the certain knowledge that Mr. Strato-Cossack will probably be
walking around for the next couple of weeks with a fountain pen clutched
in a dead, white-knuckled right fist, along with the amazing music I
heard last night, is more than adequate consolation (that right hand
would frequently dissolve into a wavering blur, and the sounds this guy
produced were incredible - I think I may have had more fun watching than
he had playing).

I can't come close to remembering/identifying all that was in their
repetoire... Atlantics, Shadows, Dale ... the fiercest renditions of
Penetration and War of the Satellites I've yet heard! Enough said.

Should Space Cossacks appear in a club near you, you must absolutely
check them out.

I did not see the initial post regarding Sequel Records but I would like to
add that they have recently opened an office in New York so many of their
titles will be available domestically at much cheaper prices. Besides
Sequel, Castle Communications also releases loads of punk, oi and ska
reissues on their Dojo imprint and these to will be coming out domestically
and I know you've all been waiting for their reissues of the first four Sham
69 albums :)
